The Preschool
The Preschool offers children a unique setting to prepare for school and help them develop their full potential. With two fully qualified Reception teachers, supported by a highly trained Early Years specialist team, your children will thrive in those all-important months before starting school.
At The Preschool we focus on school readiness in a wide range of ways. Our resources and activities focus on learning and development, following the EYFS curriculum while also promoting individuality and confidence to allow our children to be ready to start school.
We follow the same phonics letters and sounds programmes used in schools, as well as mirroring their core early reading schemes, meaning children arrive in the classroom already familiar with what to expect.
But it’s not all hard work! Learning through play is a huge part of every day, and we encourage the children to follow their own interests, building on their natural curiosity about the world around them. They also find fun in learning the practical and physical skills they will need for school, encouraging independence and responsibility, as well as plenty of fun and laughter.
Our dedicated Teaching Room allows us to do activities with smaller breakaway groups. With a huge range of education materials including reading and phonics schemes, numeric games and activities, and practical and physical resources, the Teaching Room allows our children time to focus, share experiences of learning and develop at their own rate.
The Preschool is an all-weather adventure, with a landscaped garden that is used daily. Whether it’s a sports club or a bug hunt, children learn to love the great outdoors, whatever the weather.
We’re open Monday to Thursday, 52 weeks a year, and can also help you maximise your child’s government-funded stretched hours across the whole year to make the most of their education. We do not currently offer term-time only spaces. Please contact us for more information availability and fees.
The Preschool at The Nursery provides such varied and exciting opportunities for the children, helping to build their social skills and confidence, ensuring they are completely ready to take the transition to ‘big school’. Our naturally shy daughter blossomed into such a confident young girl during her time in The Preschool and this made her leap into reception so much easier for her and for us! We are so grateful to all of the staff for instilling such good foundations in our children which set them up perfectly for school and, ultimately, for the rest of their lives.” – Elena’s mum

We really liked the fact that a qualified teacher was in The Preschool. My daughter loved her time there and it really helped to prepare her for starting school, especially as she would be one of the youngest in her class. We had some lovely comments from her school teachers at her first parents evening about how well she has done settling into school and participation in class, I believe this is down to her attending The Preschool.” – Jemma’s mum
