A Magical World Book Day Celebration at The Nursery in Portishead
We enjoyed a truly magical World Book Day celebration at The Nursery in Portishead, as favourite stories, much-loved characters and wonderful imaginations were brought to life throughout the day.
World Book Day is always a special occasion in our nursery calendar, giving children the opportunity to celebrate the joy of books, storytelling and creative play. From the moment the children arrived, the nursery was filled with excitement, colour and plenty of smiles, as everyone proudly showed off their fantastic costumes.
We loved seeing such a wonderful variety of characters across the nursery. Superheroes including Batman and Spiderman made an appearance, alongside classic favourites such as Peter Rabbit, Winnie-the-Pooh and characters from Numberblocks. Each costume helped spark conversations, role play and imaginative storytelling, allowing the children to share the books, programmes and characters they enjoy most.
Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of book-themed activities designed to encourage a love of reading from an early age. There was plenty of storytelling, dressing up, creative play and opportunities for the children to talk about their favourite stories. These moments are so valuable in supporting early language development, confidence, communication skills and imagination.
At The Nursery, we believe that introducing children to books and stories in a fun, engaging way helps build the foundations for lifelong learning. Whether children are listening to a familiar story, exploring picture books independently or acting out characters with their friends, these experiences play an important role in their early years development.
It was lovely to see such enthusiasm for reading across the nursery, with the day filled with laughter, creativity and plenty of storytelling magic. A big thank you to all our families for helping the children come dressed as such brilliant characters and for supporting another memorable celebration at The Nursery in Portishead.
