A Special Choir Visit at The Nursery in Portishead
We were very lucky to welcome The Singing Children of Kenya to The Nursery in Portishead for a truly special visit filled with music, dancing and lots of smiles.
The children from the Jolaurabi School Choir in Mombasa, Kenya visited us during their fundraising tour in Portishead, and it was a wonderful experience for everyone at The Nursery. The performance took place in The Nursery Garden, where the visiting children sang and danced beautifully, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere for our children and team.
It was lovely for the children at The Nursery to meet the choir, listen to their songs and enjoy seeing another culture shared through music and movement. Experiences like this are so valuable in early years education, helping children learn about the wider world, different communities and the importance of kindness, friendship and helping others.
The Jolaurabi School Choir were visiting Portishead for a week as part of their fundraising tour to support their school. We were delighted to learn more about their journey and the important work being done to help provide education and opportunities for the children.
As part of our continued support, The Nursery has agreed to sponsor one of the children from the school, helping to ensure they receive their school uniform, a meal every day and the books they need for their learning. We are very proud to be able to support such a meaningful cause and to help make a positive difference to a child’s education.
At The Nursery in Portishead, we believe it is important to create rich, meaningful experiences for children that go beyond the everyday nursery routine. This visit was a lovely opportunity to celebrate music, culture, community and generosity, while helping our children understand the value of caring for others.
A huge thank you to The Singing Children of Kenya and the Jolaurabi School Choir for visiting us and sharing such a wonderful performance. It was a privilege to meet the children, watch them perform and be part of such a special day in The Nursery Garden.
