It was another scorching day for this year’s Portishead Raft Race… but luckily our team of rafters were able to cool down on the water not once, not twice, but three times! For the first time since we started competing, The Nursery raft made it into the final, and we gave it everything we had.
Although we didn’t win a trophy, we were so thrilled to take part – and so happy to see so many of out lovely children and their parents out in the sunshine supporting us. Your cheers were deafening, and then kept us going!
This year, our raft was raising money for Funds For Fred, our very own charity appeal to fund an assistance dog for a Nursery team member’s son. Thank you to everyone who donated – we’re still counting the money and will publish a total once we have it. It’s not too late to donate if you want to – either hand your donation to someone in the office, or donate online on our crowdfunding page.

A special thanks to all the staff and parents who gave us materials to build our amazing raft, who built the raft with expert care and who heroically rowed around the lake during the races – you know who you are!
